Gain control over product/process design

Article Abstract:

Companies can successfully conform to ISO 9000 Element 4.4 if they can gain control over product/process design of a new product to be introduced in the market. An important factor that can determine success is the documentation of the entire plan from start to finish. This means having the necessary papers to back-up the new product from its conceptualization to release in the market. Another important factor that ISO auditors will look for is the design reviews, which should be done at certain stages of the development of the product.

TQM is alive

Article Abstract:

Some business management theory gurus consider the notion of total quality management outdated in the late 1990s. Yet this management concept which was one of the most popular business paradigms of the 1980s appears to extensively be in continued use according to a survey of companies practicing TQM. The study found that firms with effective TQM programs surpassed control-group companies by roughly 44% in a five-year period.

Customer satisfaction research is an essential part of quality programs such as ISO 9000 certification, six sigma, the Malcolm Baldridge Award and the Shingo Prize.
