Group helps the environment and improves quality

Article Abstract:

A Hughe Network Systems quality circle (QC) helped both the company's artwork processing department and the environment. Previously, artists had to print out an artwork to check their estimates of the x and y coordinates of the piece. This process was wasteful and inefficient. The QC's proposed improvement involved uploading the artwork onto a VAX system. Devised by using flowcharts, the adopted process allows the artists to adjust the artwork's measurement prior to printing out, saving both time and paper.

Executive calls: a jump start for your quality program

Article Abstract:

The executive call program can be one of the most essential elements in a company's quest for quality improvement. Assigning each senior executive to call up five clients at least once a year can reap profits for the organization. The executives should solicit feedback from the customers and work with regular customer service representatives in achieving their goals. Success of the program in the Minnesotta-based Ceridian Employer Services proves its feasibility.

Among the initiatives implemented were quality circles for employees and just-in-time production processes.
