Hierarchical Set Definition by Q-Analysis, Part I. The Hierarchical Backcloth

Article Abstract:

Hierarchical soup is the conglomerate of natural, vernacular and technical language which, while not a mathematical set, contains the building blocks of other structures. A cone construction is proposed to establish relationships between the hierarchies of intermediate words and the hierarchical soup. The rules of use, status, definition and relative levels of words can be stated in terms of cone construction. Q-analysis yields a hierarchical scheme of sets of descriptions of television programs useful to the industry.

A new definition for "chemical element"?

Article Abstract:

A new interpretation of chemical element definition is presented. The new definition accounts for the differences between the orbitality and isotopicity. Hydrogen atoms can be defined as "hydrino" or 'tiny hydrogen" by virtue of their collapsibility to a state lower than their ground state and capable of reacting with one electron to form a hydride.

Article Abstract:

The definition of the word hacker as applied to computer users is discussed. The media commonly uses the word incorrectly as inept computer programmers. More correctly, a hacker is a user who attempts to control computers and tries to stretch their capabilities.
