Hypersonic flight: the future of passenger flight promises ultrafast trips to any point on the globe

Article Abstract:

A few engineers worldwide are working on the propulsion technologies that would empower passenger planes, several times to the speed of sound. This could reduce, three hour long trip to a mere half an hour, express packages could be delivered globally in hours rather than days, and a living organ could reach a patient waiting for a transplant in minutes rather than hours.

Into deep ice

Article Abstract:

A group of inquisitive scientists and glaciologists from the University of Southampton, England, inserted capsules with sensors that can report even the subtlest environmental alterations, into the Briksdalsbreen, a glacier in southwestern Norway. This ambitious project by glaciologists is reported.

Into the wild: Ney Robinson Salvi dos Reis

Article Abstract:

Ney Robinson Salvi dos Reis' robots serve different purposes such as unclogging and monitoring pipelines for Brazil's Petrobras oil company. Reis field tests his robots in the Amazon where he hopes to involve the local community in the operation and maintenance of the robots that he creates.
