Improved lot sizing heuristics for multi-stage inventory models with backlogging

Article Abstract:

Amulti-stage inventory model is analysed in a backlogging case. Results indicatethat a cost modification may improve the performance of level-by-level heuristics. Level-by-level use of single-level heuristics bypasses the interdependecies between stages of the process and sequentially applies a single-stage lot sizing method. However, this approach can result in substantial cost penalties. Thus, improved heuristics for multi-stage systems have been developed.

Average cost estimation of lot-sizing heuristics

Article Abstract:

A heuristic method is used to determine lot-sizing cost estimates. Although heuristic approaches do not always find the optimal solution, they are simple, realistic and easily comprehended. The method provides estimates by increasing the number of periods covered by the lots, decreasing the setup cost using the minimum cost as the yardstick. The estimate can only be an approximation in terms of lower bounds because minimum cost itself is unknown.

Analysis of the EOQ repair and waste disposal problem with integer setup numbers

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the EOA repair and waste disposal framework supporting variable setup number n and m for production and repair. In line with this, collection time interval was assumed as an integer nonlinear program. The cost analysis was then extended to the extreme waste disposal rates. In addition, the minimal cost function and the optimal solution for the integer program were examined.
