Inventory control on sequences of links with given transportation frequencies

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the problem of reducing the sum of the inventory and transportation costs in a multi-products logistic network supporting one origin, intermediate modes and one destination. In line with this, two compact formulations of the problem were determined by calculating the inventory cost through the aggregation of the inventory over time or over nodes. In addition, heuristic algorithms based on the decomposition of the sequence or on the solution of a simpler problem were developed.

A routing algorithm for a single straddle carrier to load export containers onto a containership

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the routing of a straddle carrier during the loading operations of export containers in port container terminals. In line with this, the total travel distance of the straddle carrier in the yard was minimized. The routing problem was then characterized as an integer programming concern supporting a two-stage solution procedure. In addition, an optimizing algorithm was developed for the problem.

A simulation model for container-terminal operation analysis using an object-oriented approach

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine a simulation framework for container terminal system analysis. To this end, an object-oriented approach was utilized using the SIMPLE++ object-oriented simulation computer software. The container terminal was assumed to support gate, container yard, and berth. In addition, a container terminal that is a reduced system of a real terminal in Pusan, Korea, was considered.
