Keeping cars from crashing

Article Abstract:

Collision-avoidance systems that rely on radar or lasers are already appearing in the marketplace, as adaptive cruise-control options on some luxury cars, and they are likely to become widely available during the next few years. Further ahead in the future, research on intelligent transportation systems could eventually completely automate the driving experience.

Black boxes get green light

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has advised for black-box like device 'event data recorder' to be installed in all new passenger vehicles. However, these crash data recorders in automobiles have aroused fear of breach of privacy.
