Making music pay: the music industry struggles to find the right notes for selling digital entertainment over the Internet

Free Napster-style music sharing is on the way out and will be replaced by Internet music distribution for which consumers will have to pay. Proprietary file formats and digital rights management systems will determine which music-playing devices can play which songs and for how long.

It is a misconception that the Internet's 13 root servers constitute a weakness that should be a source of concern. In the first place, root servers handle relatively few domain name queries, and in the second place, root servers are extremely secure.

The illusion of web privacy

It is difficult to hide ones identity online for an ordinary netizen as webmasters generally know where one is surfing from, even the department of the company from where surfing is being done is known as the IP addresses are recorded by web servers. However identity can be masked online, by registering fraudulent domains or identity theft, which is a trick the spammers and virus writers commit by hijacking servers.
