Making the pitch in the executive suite: how quality got to the top with six Baldrige Award winners

Article Abstract:

There can be significant challenges associated with persuading senior executives to support a large-scale quality initiative. This has been the experience of some Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winners. Texas Nameplate Co Pres and CEO Dale Crownover, for example, feels that the best way to make quality attractive to top executives is to supply documentation indicating how quality can reduce costs. Boeing AT&T Vice Pres Total Quality Integration Randy Mizer emphasizes that not all senior managers understand the link between total quality and total business excellence.
