Malaysian hospitals told to stop chasing ISO 9000

Article Abstract:

Chua Soi Lek, Malaysia's Health Minister, criticized his country's hospitals for devoting too much of their attention to securing ISO 9000 registration, saying that hospitals get their accredidation but at the cost of focusing less on the real duty, which is to care for patients. The health minister also believed that if hospitals wanted to get accreditation, they should instead go to Joint Commission International just like what neighboring countries Thailand and Singapore are doing.
