Nanoholes permit remarkable light transmission: passing a camel through a needle's eye-with big implications for light-emitting devices

Article Abstract:

Methods to send light through apertures much smaller than the wavelength of light are being developed as they could lead to more efficient solid state lasers, LEDs and other electronic components. Although it is contradictory to the classical rules of optics but the investigations have showed that the light waves just did not pass through the hole but their intensity can also be increased thus, naming the phenomenon as extraordinary emission. This can be a breakthrough in all light emitting devices.
