Negotiating successful technology implementation: a motivation perspective

Article Abstract:

Technology implementation produces greater value and commitment when express negotiations with participants are conducted. Through negotiations, implementers can determine the needs of participants regarding the creation of integrative solutions which will encourage them to adopt the technology under a tacit agreement. Integrative solutions include dissemination of information, creation of reward structures or alteration of technology use.

The effect of the acquisition of technological innovations on organizational performance: a resource-based review

Article Abstract:

A positive relationship exists between the acquisition of technological innovations and the performance of an organization. A sample of 189 Florida hospitals revealed that hospital financial performance was enhanced upon the acquisition of medical technological innovations. Significant improvement in performance became highly evident when medical technologies acquired were simultaneously valuable, imperfectly imitable and rare.

Use of mathematical models to analyze top managers' ability to efficiently implement organizational innovations is discussed. Additional information on the role of key factors in the decision-making process of adopting new technologies is also included.
