Part profiling: precise, noncontact dimensional measurement

Article Abstract:

Customers demand a high degree of accuracy from the manufacturing sector when it comes to parts and products. This attitude has prompted strict adherence to gaging standards, typically using dimensional gaging equipment of the contact and noncontact types. LaserMike Inc's Z-Mike Div has developed a system which employs a scanning laser beam and two axes of motion to conduct noncontact dimensional gaging. The new system is basically cheaper than fixed gaging fixtures.

Multigeometry optics for measuring finishes

Article Abstract:

Colorimeters and spectrophotometers are indispensable in color control and differentiation. The accurate measurement and control of metallic and pearlescent finishes has been elusive until the advent of the multigeometry measurement system. These optics are particularly useful in testing the coatings and finishes of automobiles. MacBeth's goniospectrophotometer known as ColorEye is a prime example of this innovative system.
