Putting a little bit by for the future

Article Abstract:

There are two kinds of pensions in the United Kingdom; defined contribution pensions managed by a pension fund or occupational pensions organised for employees by their company management. Defined contribution pensions are for people who have not been able to arrange a pension in their workplace or who are self-employed. Contributions are limited according to net earnings and age of the worker. A full examination of fund charges and performance is vital before purchasing a personal pension. Occupational pensions are made up of contributions from workers and employers.

Banks, phones and auto-transactions

Article Abstract:

It would be helpful to small companies in their financial management to have automated banking from their own computers, but the large UK banks do not provide this at rates which could be afforded by small businesses. It is left to the small banks, notably the Bank of Scotland, Co-op and TSB, to operate services which allow interactive PC-based banking at more modest subscription fees. Meanwhile banks are concentrating on developing telephone banking and preparing themselves for a future using convergence technologies.
