Putting the automated factory together

Article Abstract:

Manufacturing is an integrated act with a common thread that runs through the full scope of all manufacturing activities, a series of data processing operations. The technology that can best improve the efficiency of the process is one that can improve the effectiveness of the data processing task which is the basis for all manufacturing operations. The technology best-suited to fulfill this role is computer integrated manufacturing, the union of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing.
