Quality in a litigious land

Article Abstract:

Architects can avoid lawsuits if they maintain good working relationships with their clients. Problems arising from forms of agreement can be prevented by executing contracts which specify client requirements. A good contract, complemented by risk management procedures such as insurance, in-house work evaluation and executive responsibility may be effective tools against actionable complaints. Prior to signing legal agreements, architects and architectural firms must be totally sure of their uncompromised capacity to do the specified work.

Using computer simulation in quality control

Article Abstract:

It is suggested that computer simulation be used in place of algebraic calculations in solving statistical quality control problems. The resampling approach is just one of the methods performed with computer simulation. It is the preferred technique for numerous problems found in statistical quality control because it can be easily comprehended and a considerable mathematical background is not needed.
