Article Abstract:
Electric power losses cost UK insurers up to 20 million pounds sterling in 1994, while US insurance firms pay up to $4 billion every year to firms which suffer an interruption in power supply. The main problem causing power dips is harmonic distortion which causes damage to hardware, communication systems and electrical voltage quality through non-linear load interruptions. Most firms are unaware of the importance of harmonic surveys which determine the risk of distortion and possible power supply faults.

Robson's choice
Article Abstract:
Alan Robson became managing director of the engineering services company Rotrax Engineering Services in 1993. He has worked in the industry since he was appointed as an apprentice at the age of fifteen. Robson and deputy managing director Ian Rennison have diversified the organization. It now provides data cabling and information technology services in addition to engineering services. Rotrax will continue to expand through acquisition, says Robson.
