Research for the next generation of quality

Article Abstract:

The ASQC-supported Transformations to Quality Organizations 1995/1996 research grant awards to 25 projects aims to catalyze multidisciplinary investigations into quality improvement principles. Among the projects are several related to total quality management strategies, a few focusing on customer-valued quality and fast product innovation, and one dealing with the leadership of technical professional teams. Preliminary results pertaining to some of the projects show the benefits of quality principles in setting benchmarks leading to systematic improvement of organizations.

Improving business-education relationships

Article Abstract:

A symbiotic relationship between educators and business leaders is necessary to provide appropriate quality education to future businesspeople. In addition, these businesspeople may be able to generate fresh feedback from students and, hence, initiate some needed changes into the business community. Improved communication through interactive involvement by both groups as well as increased emphasis on total quality management principles and techniques are recommended.
