The engineering job market is improving as semiconductors are coming on strong, with a lot of activity in wireless technologies. Many opportunities exist for electrical and electronic engineers as hiring has picked up in areas of specialty electronic design automation, military and security technologies and in emerging areas like nanotechnology.

Engineering salaries rise again

Article Abstract:

The salaries of engineers from all disciplines are again rising this year. According to the American Association of Engineering Workforce Commission, United States engineers saw only 1.5 percent gain in compensation in 2004, whereas engineers in low wage countries are enjoying the increase of double-digit in their salaries.

Tough in the trenches: although employed U.S. engineers are starting to see their salaries rise, outsourcing has themfearing for their jobs

Article Abstract:

Outsourcing to the low-wage countries like India is a big concern for the workforce of US as the offshore competition is seen to be moving into leading-edge segment also. However, a resurgence of salary rise in modest terms, stock options and return of cash incentives like profit sharing and bonus is a positive sign.
