Article Abstract:

More companies are adopting alternative workplace strategies such as hoteling, telecommuting and the virtual office. Such strategies offer significant costs savings and can even boost productivity. However, companies planning to adopt alternative offices should first consider if they are under pressure to limit rental costs and if they will truly benefit from the advantages of alternative strategies. They should also be prepared to help employees through the transition from private to alternative environments.

Although motors are getting smaller, the hardware that complements the motors is not, mostly because of the amount of power and torque that items sychg as clutches and couplings need. Swedish company, High Density Drives, has introduced a Coupmotor, which has a greatly reduced motor size, as well as as an integral coupling that can fit onto the motor drive shaft.
