SPC in printed circuit board assembly: NCR Corporation used SPC to prevent defects and design for quality

Article Abstract:

The use of statistical process control (SPC) methods by NCR Engineering and Manufacturing Facility, for the auto-insertion module of its printed circuit board (PCB) assembly operation is described. SPC helped overcome problems such as misinserted parts, wrong parts and broken parts and the method served as a model for other implementations of SPC in the facility.

Our place-kicker is out of control

Two football placekickers are rated using data collection, root cause analysis and statistical process control by the sports organizations. The ways to use these tools to compare two placekickers are suggested.
