Selecting agitator seals for bioprocessing applications

Article Abstract:

The use of agitator seals in biotechnology and pharmaceutical processes is discussed. These seals are usually used to protect plant personnel from biohazards and toxins, to isolate tank contents, to avoid contamination, and maintain vessel pressure. Details of seal support systems, as well as methods of lubricating seals, are also discussed.

Piloting bioreactors for agitation scale-up

Article Abstract:

Agitation is normally regarded as a non-critical part of laboratory and pilot-plant fermenters which result in variances in the pilot-scale agitation conditions from those at full scale. These issues and methods for acquiring scalable data for aerobic and anaerobic bioreactors are discussed.
