Set up national process safety goals

Article Abstract:

There are several advantages of establishing national chemical process safety goals and evaluation approaches. These are the formation of stakeholder consensus, the identification of where chemical industries want to be, the enumeration of activities needed in implementing the preceding aim and agreeing on common metrics for measuring progress towards these goals. This may be an awesome challenge but the National Institute for Occupational Safety has successfully implemented a bigger initiative called the National Occupational Research Agenda.

Consider aerosol formation when selecting heat transfer fluids

Article Abstract:

Screening techniques relating to selection of heat-transfer-fluids are currently based on flash point, fire point, and auto-ignition temperature. Small leaks of the fluid lead to formation of aerosols. Sauter mean diameter [SMD] helps in detecting the characteristics of the aerosol and mist leading to better fluid-selection thereby reducing the risk of fire hazards and explosion.
