Steve hires an unfinished Ph.D

Article Abstract:

Complications may arise from hiring students who are still working on and their doctorate degrees . Although some students possess sufficient knowledge and the right attitude necessary for the job, they are still not entitled to receive the same compensation as that of a new Ph.D. Some become so engrossed with their new lifestyle that they tend to lose the time and the enthusiasm needed to finish their degrees. Part of a manager's job is to deal with situations such as this and rely on his years of experience to find the most appropriate solution.

What future engineers and scientists learn about ethics

Article Abstract:

The education of engineers and scientists are often inadequate in addressing the ethical aspects of their profession. Few curricula make ethics education a requirement, which results in a lack of knowledge reagrding basic ethical principles. Many universities and colleges have addressed this need after the furor caused by technology-based accidents. An effective ethics program requires its graduates to identify, analyze and act on ethical issues and take responsibility for their actions.

You've got hate mail!

Article Abstract:

Hate mail and other inappropriate messages over a company's electronic mail system is a fact of corporate life. Statistics reveal that over half of employees with Internet access in the US receive racist, adult-oriented , sexist and other improper messages at work. Companies can publish strict guidelines on the use of such systems, which are supposed to be for business only anyway, but the individual users should also be responsible for policing their own ranks.
