The R&D 100: a company's research budget tells you very little about its prospects

Article Abstract:

The top 100 companies based on research and development expenditures is presented with Toyota Motor Corp. coming out on top followed by Pfizer Inc. and Ford Motor Co. The analysis of the data reveals that research and development spending does not account for the entirety of a company's competitiveness even with a comparison of the research and development intensity.
