The choice of replenishment policies in an MRP environment

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the choice of replenishment policies in a materials requirement planning environment. The categorization of items and the criteria utilized in the classification were examined in a general assemble-to-order company framework. A stepwise process was then developed to classify items into five general categories. Results indicated the usability of the stepwise procedure in materials requirement planning applications.

A framework for cost-service analysis in differentiation of logistics services

Article Abstract:

Logistics management should be separated into its cost-control and customer-service functions to avoid the usual overemphasis on the former at the expense of the latter. The customer-service approach has several service elements and the company competes with others in this area by differentiating its service level from that of others. This differentiation is done in the logistics planning stage.
