The effect of (s,S) ordering policy on the supply chain

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the influence of (s,S) ordering policy on supply chains. Three basic elements of a supply chain were examined. These include the purchase orders of individual retailers, the aggregate orders of the retailers, and the supplier's ordering and production policy. Results indicated that demand correlation can reduce the variability of aggregate orders. Findings also showed that autocorrelation in buyer's orders can positively influence the ordering policy of suppliers.

Financing constraints and reordering rules

Article Abstract:

The effect of the introduction of financing constraints on a model of inventory investment is considerable both on the micro- and macroeconomic level. On the micro or firm level, the presence of financing constraints results in the replenishment of inventory only during a situation of liquidity and dividend payment only after enough inventory has been amassed. On the macro level, the aggregate inventory tends to exhibit an asymmetric pattern.

Does the time shape of inventory data hold clues on inventory behaviour

Article Abstract:

Analysis of inventory behavior shows that the time shape of holdings may vary leading to asymmetric and unexpected changes that can prove researchers, who use traditional assumptions, wrong in in their task of determining inventory quantities. Thus, it is necessary to consider this aspect of inventory behavior and account for it in the periodic examination of inventory levels.
