The role of logistics in concurrent engineering

Article Abstract:

A study of various areas where collaboration and interface of logistics and design activities can benefit a manufacturing outfit supports early logistics involvement in the initial stages of product design and development in a concurrent engineering setting. Design rules and suggestions for logistics engineering, manufacturing logistics, design for packaging and design for transportability were proposed to effectively achieve design for logistics.

An integrated manufacturing system design: an applied approach

Article Abstract:

An independent, combined pipe-valve, manufacturing-assembly facility within a design-for-manufacture/design-for-assembly set up has been proposed. The proposal is to be applied to a real-life situation in a production venture involving pipe-valve creation, production and assembly. While the proposal is one of many suggested, it can aid in raising both production output and effectivity, and takes into account other types of pipe-valve design.

Multicriterial production planning by De Novo programming approach

Article Abstract:

The De Novo programming method is considered as an approach that defines the optimal solution for a production planning model with variable constraints. The method showed effective application as a production program based on real financial possibilities and set objective functions. The model also exhibited the capability of dealing with factor changes involving price, objective functions and demand constraints.
