Top end CAD speeds the path to profit

Article Abstract:

Considerable cost savings have been achieved by design consultancy MGA as a result of investing in top-of-the-range CADCAM, training and machine tools. It has purchased 38 CATIA and 32 CADDS 5 workstations, and is runing the CATIA software on IBM RS6000 workstations and the CADDS 5 on Sun Workstations. It has invested 1.5 million pounds sterling in technology and training over the last three years, and has seen its sales and profits rise greatly.

Cones smooth path to greener engines

Research developing a cone variator transmission is presented. It is emphasized that the device is being tested on small motorcycles and it is aimed at reducing fuel consumption by as much as ten percent. More funding is necessary for the research to continue.
