Track your gages with software

Article Abstract:

Keeping track of one's gages becomes an almost impossible task once gage inventory grows. The use of a gage tracking and calibration software program helps in locating gages, drawing up reports, and in calculating when each gage is due for calibration. This software program can also organize calibration records based on specifications by the International Standards Organization and other calibration standards. The initial step involved in investing in such a software program is the establishment of a database that has specific information regarding each gage.

Manage gage stats on your PC

Article Abstract:

Gage tracking and calibration management is an integral part of the certification process. However, the efficiency of a gage management process depends on the software program that an auditor uses. Software programs that most auditors recommend are those which provide a list of functional and uncalibrated gages and those which allow manual or automatic interval adjustments. Moreover, a software program should be able to identify to which the gages a particular master gage is connected to, in case of functional failure.

Zero in on gage calibration

Article Abstract:

Gages should be calibrated regularly as part of quality control procedures in manufacturing operations. A gage calibration program can be developed by determining how often each gage needs calibration, the allowable duration of downtime for each gage, the amount of money available for calibration and how the calibration history of each gage can be tracked.
