New fire-safety system puts resort at ease

Article Abstract:

The Siemens Building Technologies's Landis Div has introduced its latest lines of fire protection system including the Signature Series detectors. The system includes detectors with analog/addressable capabilities for determining the affected space during a fire-alarm condition to allows operators to responsed to any fire situation. The system was installed by Butte's Resort when it upgrade the fire-alarm system at its 35-room hotel in Tempe, AZ.

Massachusetts weary of energy-efficient transformer law

Article Abstract:

Massachusetts has passed a law requiring all newly installed transformers to be at least 97% efficient. The law, which seeks to implement the National Electrical Manufacturers Assn's Standard TP-1,`Guide for Determining Energy Efficiency for Distribution Transformers,' has the potential to save a large amount from the state's energy expenditure. However, the law's absence from the Masschusetts building code will make its enforcement difficult.
