Unauthorised ads control bill is close to enactment

Article Abstract:

Enforcement officers may soon have new powers over unauthorised advertising hoardings, when a private bill becomes law, possibly by October. The London Local Authorities (No 2) Bill will enable planning authorities to serve notices on an advertising contractor with unauthorised hordings. If the company does not remove the hoarding, the authority can hire removal contractors and charge the cost to the company.

Councils threaten 'Bill Stickers' with action: unauthorised advertising hoardings can give councils headaches, but how do you deal with them?

Article Abstract:

Are ASCA orders getting out-of-touch?: with the first regulations implemented in 1947, maybe the time has come for another look at ASCA orders

Article Abstract:

Areas of Special Control of Advertisments regulations were first implemented in 1947 and are currently forming the basis of a DoE consultation paper. A report found that many local authority planners are confused about how to deal with enforcement, and few councils have undertaken reviews of their ASCA orders.
