Microsoft's introduction of its Windows XP operating system, scheduled for Oct 2001, has stirred up much controversy. For example, critics continue to worry that Microsoft is expanding the operating system to include capabilities previously provided by rival companies, and a new, potentially burdensome licensing scheme is another focus of complaints.
