Wisdom from an "old' mentor

Article Abstract:

Maintaining a positive relationship with the clients and workers and having a broad perspective about the project may entail business success for civil engineers. They can be done by planning ahead to eliminate future obstacles, assessing the working relationship and talking to the workers. If any animosity exists between the project manager and his workers, it should be eliminated so that unnecessary miscommunication will be prevented.

Employee performance standards: what works best?

Article Abstract:

Job descriptions alone are not enough to motivate employees and ensure that they become effective performers. Management should make sure that employees understand and accept their responsibilities. This may be accomplished by establishing a performance standard process. Such a process concretely shows employees the work habits and attitudes expected from them and what reward or disciplinary action they can expect.
