Article Abstract:

Ames Department Stores, Inc. uses Control Data Corp's Timepak II statistical package and its X-L data base management system along with Ames' own marketing data to assess site locations and sales of future stores. Demographic information about each trading area is supplied by Donnelley Marketing Information Services' American Profile database. Once the data is processed, a regression model is produced analyzing, by zip-code, the areas where Ames operates successful stores.

Job-related stress is linked to lack of interpersonal support, Type-A behavior, poor health and an unsatisfying social life. Job role, job tasks, job environment and organizational environment are considered job stressors. It is suggested that one analyze these stressors and consider which affect one's particular situation. Employees may also be affected by too much or too little work.
