Blind to the dangers

Article Abstract:

Greenpeace pressures the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturers and retailers to stop the import and sale of vinyl miniblinds containing lead. Exposure to lead from PVC miniblinds can cause serious health problems, such as cancer, disruption of the endocrine system, sterility, and developmental problems in children and the unborn. Children are most affected by the risks. The production of PVC is the largest source of toxic chemicals and subsequent massive environmental pollution. Greenpeace tries to control the sale of dangerous blinds through spot checks and protests.
