Context-dependent changes in the resistance and resilience of soil microbes to an experimental disturbance for three primary plant chronosequences

Article Abstract:

Ecological stability describes how communities respond to disturbance and can be defined as consisting of two components, resistance which is the amount of change caused by a disturbance and resilience which is the rate of recovery following a disturbance. Although consistent trends were found within each chronosequence, the relationships between the stability of different soil microbial response variables, resources and ecosystem development depended strongly on which chronosequence was considered.

Biodiversity and stability of grassland ecosystem functioning

Article Abstract:

The problems in the design and interpretations of the plant species richness experiments conducted by Pfisterer and Schmid are described. The influence of plant species diversity on the stability of ecosystem properties is discussed.

The response of a three trophic level soil food web to the identity and diversity of plant species and functional groups

Article Abstract:

The effects of plant diversity and composition on multiple levels in soil food webs are investigated. The differences in plant traits across species are important in driving the decomposer subsystem.
