Cost efficiency in pursuing environmental objectives in forestry

Article Abstract:

Forestry is threatening certain plant and animal species living in forest habitats in Sweden. A study concentrated on the cost efficiency of a variety of environmental consideration measures in a final logging, and found that four of the 19 measures had a negative effect, 12 had no significant effect and three had a positive effect on the net revenue. Results suggest that the cost efficiency could be further increased.

Prediction of the impact of logging activities on forest cover: a case-study in the East province of Cameroon

Article Abstract:

Research in Cameroon's East province shows that forest-cover modifications resulting from logging increase according to the forest rent value. Data were obtained through remote sensing and a geographic information system programmed with economic and ecological variables.

Recreation values of boreal forest stand types and landscapes resulting from different silvicultural systems: an economic analysis

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that forest management plans have a significant impact on the economically efficient production of recreation and timber-harvest environments. While a clearcutting plan resulted in the lowest value, a shelterwood plan yielded the highest value
