Disturbing the ancients

Article Abstract:

Clearcutting activities by timber companies threaten Chile's rain forests. A variety of tree species, particularly alerce cedars, are being cut down to supply the Asian lumber industry. The Chilean government and conservationists are campaigning to stop these destructive logging practices.

$100 campaign contribution limits

Article Abstract:

There has long been a search for a law that will limit campaign contributions and thereby restrict the influence of special interests groups, and a $100 contribution limit is proving to be a promising approach. Several groups in various states are pursuing the strategy.

Campaign for cleaner corporations
