Economic valuation for sustainable development in the Swedish coastal zone

Article Abstract:

Ecosystem goods and services in Sweden coastal zone include tangible natural resources such as fish for commercial fisheries, less tangible services such as fish recruitment opportunities, and environment amenities such as recreational opportunities. Due to scarcity of ecosystem, there are conflicts arising between those who demand coastal ecosystem goods and services and influence their supply.

Vanishing seagrass (Zostera marina, L.) in Swedish Coastal Waters

Article Abstract:

In 1980s an inventory was made along the Swedish coastal waters, where seagrass (Zostera marine, L.) grew on the shallow soft bottom, which is important for the fish species being either migratory or stationary. In 2000 when the same water was tested it was found that 58% of the marina had decreased in the last 10 to 15 years due to ecological reasons.

Ecosystem goods and services from Swedish coastal habitats: identification, valuation, and implications of ecosystem shifts

Article Abstract:

A paper evaluating the affects of high population densities and rapid economic development on human welfare and dependence on nature's capacity to provide ecosystem goods and services is presented. It focuses on four main habitat types that occur regularly along the Swedish coast from the surface down.
