Manipulation of snow in small headwater catchments at Storgama, Norway: Effects on leaching inorganic nitrogen

Article Abstract:

The effects on concentrations and fluxes of inorganic nitrogen in runoff by manipulating the winter-time soil temperature regime of small catchments in southern Norway are investigated. The warmer soils during winter caused by climatic change is a larger threat to the environment than a possible increase of soil frost events due to reduced snow cover during the winter.

Effects of climatic change on fluxes of nitrogen from the Tovdal river basin, Norway, to adjoining marine areas

Article Abstract:

The nitrate (NO3) fluxes from the Tovdal River basin of southernmost Norway are projected in four scenarios of climatic change by using a mass-balance model. The annual NO3 flux from the Tovdal River to adjoining Topdalsfjord is projected to remain unchanged with more NO3 delivered in the winter and less in the spring.

Terrestrial ecosystem recovery - modelling the effects of reduced acidic inputs and increased inputs of sea-salts induced by global change

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on acidification research and clean rain experiments being conducted in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The project will monitor reduced emissions goals established by the European Union's Gothenburg protocol of 1999.
