Phenotypic plasticity in reproductive traits induced by food availability in a lacertid lizard, Takydromus septentrionalis

Article Abstract:

Takydromus septentrionalis are measured to examine the availability of food in the reproductive traits of northern grass lizards. The results support optimal egg size theory where the female lizards 'decide' whether or not to reproduce largely, based on current energy intake, where lowered feeding rates delayed oviposition and reduce reproductive frequency.

Host-plant species modifies the diet of an omnivore feeding on three trophic levels

Article Abstract:

The effects of the relative and the total predation rate of the omnivore on population dynamics are explored. It is concluded that the effects of diet choice of omnivores on population dynamics should be analyzed within the context of the entire food web associated with the plant.

Energy availability, spatial heterogeneity and ecosystem size predict food-web structure in streams

Article Abstract:

Eighteen food webs in streams are assembled using standardized techniques. The main aim is to identify the determinants of food-web structure with particular reference to energy availability, spatial heterogeneity and ecosystem size.
