Plastics dumped on poor countries

Article Abstract:

Plastic bags and bottles dumped on Third World countries pose grave health hazards. The plastics industry has found that disposal of their wastes on other countries create better public relations on the domestic scene. However, such scheme has not provided solutions to the environmental problems generated by the production and recycling of plastics. Even plastics which are said to be biodegrable contain toxins and heavy metals that are harmful to the nervous and respiratory systems and kidneys.

Greenpeace haslaunched two projects focusing on the role children can take in the environmental movement. The two projects are action updates for children via 'P3: The Earth-Based Magazine for Kids' and the video 'Get It Together' which teaches children how to mobilize. The video uses music video and documentary footages as its medium for teaching. These projects allow Greenpeace to affect the youth.
