Simulated distributions of Baltic Sea-ice in warming climate and consequences for the winter habitat of the Baltic ringed seal

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to investigate sea-ice in the Baltic Sea in present and future climates and also the uncertainties due to the applied emission scenario, the driving global model, and the interannual variability. The Rossby Centre Regional Atmosphere-Ocean model is used to perform a set of 30-year-long slice experiments.

Assessing Secchi and photic zone depth in the Baltic Sea from satellite data

Article Abstract:

Long-term trends in the Secchi depth of the Baltic Sea have been interpreted in terms of eutrophication (1,2). Given the empirical and theoretical relationships between diffuse attenuation and Secchi depth, it is therefore possible to estimate the trophic state from remote sensing data.
