Regional scale flood modeling using NEXRAD rainfall, GIS, and HEC-HMS/RAS: A case study for the San Antonio River Basin summer 2002 storm event

Article Abstract:

A framework for regional scale flood modeling that integrates next generation radar (NEXRAD) Level III rainfall, geographic information systems (GIS), and a hydrological model is developed. The modeling framework incorporates a portion of the developed GIS tool named Map to Map that is created on a local scale and extends it to a regional scale.

Solutions for characterizing natural landscapes in New Zealand using geographical information systems

Article Abstract:

The solutions for characterizing naturalness in relation to visual landscapes using Geographical Information System (GIS) are explored. The complications in characterizing natural landscapes are outlined but it is argued that there is a need to develop definitions of natural landscapes that can be operationalized with a GIS.
