Social-ecological resilience and social conflict: Institutions and strategic adaptation in Swedish water management

Article Abstract:

The way in which learning processes are affected by strategic behavior among natural resource users is analyzed along with how social conflict is affected by social and ecological uncertainty. The crucial role the institutional context plays in defining the outcome of learning processes in Swedish water management institutions is discussed and previously elaborated political aspects of learning processes and institutional change in social-ecological systems are highlighted.

Designing a multipurpose methodology for strategic environmental research: The Ronnea Catchment Dialogues

Article Abstract:

The background of the Catchment Dialogues and their multiple aims and the evaluation of the dialogue design are described. Catchment Dialogues are a fruitful research method for answering the research questions specifically focusing on the new design features like heterogeneous groups, structured interviews and external moderation and is useful for achieving Swedish water management Research Program's (VASTRA's) multiple purposes.

Public participation in water resources management: Stakeholder voices on degree, scale, potential, and methods in future water management

Article Abstract:

The stakeholders' own experiences and views of increased public participation in water management were investigated. The potential for increasing levels of participation by forming catchment committees with representation from stakeholder groups and through the use of various practical methods for participation was explored.
