The role of site, habitat, seasonality and competition in determining the nightly activity patterns of psammophilic gerbils in a centrifugally organized community

Article Abstract:

The role of site, habitat, seasonality, and competition in determining the nightly activity patterns of psammophilic gerbils in a centrifugally organized community is studied. The results suggest that nocturnal activity pattern differs between habitats and seasons and temporal partitioning occurs in the semi stabilized sand habitat where both gerbil species were common.

The use of time and space by male and female gerbils exploiting a pulsed resource

Article Abstract:

The interaction between males and females of the subordinate species, Gerbillus andersoni allenbyi, as a function of interference and resource renewal is examined. The results revealed that for the renewal treatment, female activity in trays was more intense early in the night, but thereafter-male activity was more intense.

Effects of food quality, diet preference and water on patch use by Nubian ibex

Article Abstract:

The effects of food quality and water availability on Nubian ibex foraging behavior are tested. The results suggest that food and water are complementary resources for Nubian ibex, thus helping to determine patch foraging behavior decisions in Nubian ibex and contribute to habitat quality.
