When can noise induce chaos and why does it matter: A critique

Article Abstract:

Noise-induced chaos illustrates small amounts of exogenous noise that can have disproportionate qualitative impact on the long tem dynamic of a non linear system, which is clear in chaotic systems. Quantitative measures of the actual noisy system, Lambda provides information for dynamic and mechanistic explanation.

Can noise induce chaos?

Article Abstract:

A system with a negative Lyapunov exponent (LE) in the absence of noise has a positive stochastic Lyapunov exponent (SLE) on the introduction of noise. The strong influence of underlying deterministic chaotic invariant sets help in the revelation of the chaotic dynamics in stochastic systems.

Nutrient enrichment overwhelms diversity effects in leaf decomposition by stream fungi

Article Abstract:

The relative impacts of species numbers and nutrient enrichment on leaf mass loss caused by defined fungal communities containing between 1 and 5 aquatic hyphomycete species is compared. The sampling effects and niche complementarity resulted in greater mass loss in multicultures.
