Article Abstract:

The environmental movement is becoming a threat to the employment of industrial workers. Measures to protect the environment sometimes lead to the layoff of workers. Labor unions have been supportive of environmental agendas, but layoffs and decreased profits are creating antagonism.

The plastics industry is waging a public relations campaign to bolster confidence in its recycling efforts when in fact recycling is minimal and the companies lobby against recycling laws. The industry's campaign and the problems inherent in recycling are detailed.
