A landmark move to a cost-savings, economic boom

Article Abstract:

Mayor Bloomberg had announced in 2002 that recycling would end in New York City, but due to coalition of recycling companies, the city staff reviewed community activists and environmental groups recycling possibilities. The city crafted a long-term agreement with a recycling company and the agreement paid the City to recycle, provided incentives to the company to increase the value of materials recycled and provided valuable feedstock to existing commodity markets in a landmark move.

Single stream developments in U.S. cities

Article Abstract:

San Antonio, Texas on August 1st, 2004 has entered into a new processing agreement with Vista Fibers, Inc. for curbside recycling materials. About 6,000 homes in the Germantown and Chestnut hill section of Philadelphia tested a recycling approach design to earn them a hard cash.
